A 3rd workshop on "Innovation" for Qatar Business Women Award 2010/2011

Doha, February 22 (QNA) - The Qatari Business Women Association has organized a third workshop on "Innovation" within the framework of Qatar Business Women award 2010/2011, which was launched in December last year with the participation of a wide range of business and professional Qatari women who will compete for the most prestigious award of its kind in Qatar that honors the outstanding performance of women.
The third workshop has shed the light on the Innovation criterion related to the creativity skills that are employed by the participants in their work to achieve their goals, and it encouraged participants to use creative methods and innovative ideas to improve the level of services and increase the quality of products towards achieving high profitability of their institutions or businesses.
The workshops have witnessed a wide participation and an overwhelming demand by business and professional women in Qatar prompting the Association to re-organize the first workshop, which was organized in December 2010, and according to the organizers, this demand reflects the unique and healthy investment environment in Qatar, which encourages women to increasingly play a leading role in the economic boom witnessed by the state of Qatar.
In this context, Vice Chairwoman of the Qatari Business Women Association Mrs. Aisha Alfardan, is pleased with the success of the Qatar Business Women Award and praised the openness which the country is witnessing in regards to the participation of women at work.
She said: The Qatari Society has gone a long way during the past two decades, and we have achieved a good level of women s participation in the various sectors that form the backbone of the economic boom in Qatar, We are proud to be a part of this integrated system led by Her Highness Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser, which promoted the role of women and achieved remarkable results, both at the level of women s participation in the economic boom or at the level of capacity and talent built amongst women in Qatar. "
"This workshop is special because it s focused on the concept of creativity and innovation in the workplace, making it the favorite workshops for those participants who have a track record of creativity in their institutions such as contributions to the development of new types of services or designs or tools or actions that have achieved remarkable development in the level of services or products, as well as the impact of these methods of work and thinking on the rest of the employees in the organization, " she said.
Mrs. Alfardan further said,"We started to really notice how these workshops are forming an important reference for businesswomen in the country to review their performance, which is an incentive for them to improve their skills and thus, impose a self-censorship continued at the level of their performance in the institutions that they work with or oversee."
The Qatar Business Women Award 2010/2011 is built on five criteria, namely: Leadership; Future Goals and Financial plans; Business, Professional and Career Achievements, Community Contribution and Participate and Innovation, and is open for participation by two categories: Business and Professional.
Candidates for the Qatar Business Women Award 2010/2011 can qualify at the same time for a business and professional women s development certificate accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management, by participating in three workshops and then submit their applications against the criteria mentioned above.
The Qatar Business Women Award was launched in December 2007 under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser, and will identify and pay tribute to Qatari women who contribute to Qatar s Society and economy through their significant professional and entrepreneurial achievements; the award will focus on women who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and managerial qualities in their work.
In the same context the Qatari Business Women Association has succeeded in launching many activities and projects, such as the first Qatar international businesswomen Forum which was held in May 2010, and had attracted more than (500) of elite businessmen and women from Qatar, and ,the region and the world.
It has also succeeded in launching the Corporate Ambassadors Program to support small and medium enterprises to enhance their competitiveness in the market, and announced recently signing an important MOU with Qatar Skills Academy which aims to provide women with the latest skills through vocational training, .
The QBWA also announced recently the launch of the second Qatar International Businesswomen Forum which will be held on the 17th and 18th of May 2011, and is expected to witness a further boost after it succeeded last year in revealing the economic power owned by businesswomen in the country.
The Qatari Business Women Association was established in year 2000 to enhance women s contribution to the economic activity which constitutes a real gain both to Qatari women and the society at large, QBWF has launched a number of important initiatives like Qatar Businesswomen Award, Corporate Ambassadors Programme and Qatar International Businesswomen Forum.
On the other hand it has initiated a partnership with Qatar Businessmen Association, a partnership that aims to extend its platform to include different sectors and build cooperation relationships with the Qatari organizations to support its vision and help achieve its objectives.
The Qatari Business Women Association is chaired by HE Sheikha Al Anood Bint Khalifa Bin Hamad Al-Thani, and managed by a number of prominent Businesswomen who have a history of success in different sectors that they work in or manage.
The Qatari Business Women Association has played a distinguished role in enhancing women contribution to push the economic wheel towards the strategic growth that we are witnessing today, and in line with the wise vision that the government has set.
The Qatari Business Women Association is also a founding member of Middle East and North Africa Businesswomen Network which includes 12 members from 12 countries, and it is becoming a role-model through its active participation and best practices.
The Qatari Business Women Association has adopted new strategies and plans in a step that aims to develop and promote the role that it s playing locally, regionally and internationally, and it organizes a number of activities, conferences and programmes that support Qatar.
