Doha Food Festival to Showcase Top Restaurants
Doha, February 22 (QNA) - Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) is set to serve culinary delights at the four-day Doha Food Festival starting here Wednesday at the Doha Exhibition Centre (DEC) premises.
Sixty restaurants and cafes will present their 'signature dishes' at the second annual food festival called 'Taste And Fun 2011'. Last year 40 restaurants had participated.
QTA chairman Ahmed Al Nuaimi told Qatar News Agency (QNA), "Last year's inaugural food festival was very successful. This initiative is part of promoting internal tourism for hotels and restaurants. This year's festival is featuring many more restaurants and chefs so there would be a wide variety of dishes. I hope the dusty weather clears before the event starts."
Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari will inaugurate the food festival which will be set up in the open area behind the DEC premises.
Arabic, Asian, Mexican, European and 'fine dining' gourmet dishes will be on offer as well as
family entertainment. A DJ every afternoon, a jazz band at night and other performers will complete the festival ambience.
Vendors including the Grand Hyatt Doha, the Ritz Carlton Doha, Sharq Village and Spa, the W and the
Four Seasons will be offering their delicious gourmet cuisine to visitors for QR5, QR10 and QR15 per
plate.
QTA's Head of Organizing Exhibitions Service Department Lahdan Al Mohannadi. "The food festival has become a popular family and community event in Doha. Not only will visitors enjoy great food and fun entertainment, they will have the opportunity to sample dishes from other countries which all seek to promote cultural awareness in our amazingly diverse community."
Opening hours of the food festival are:- February 23 from 4pm to 10.30 pm; February 24 from 12 pm to 10:30 pm; February 25 and 26 from 1 pm to 10:30 pm.
