PDIP REGISTERS 620 HOUSE MEMBER CANDIDATES

Jakarta, Aug 18 (ANTARA)- The Indonesian Democatic Party of Struggle (PDIP) has registered a total of 620 legislative member candidates to the General Election Commission (KPU), its secretary general said.

Some 424 of them are men and another 196 (32 percent) are women, Pramono Anung, the party's secretary general said here Monday.

"We set many of the candidates as fixed candidates (for instance 1,2,3,4 etc)," he said, adding that there is no discrimination between the male and the female.

The age of most of the candidates as proposed by the party ranged from 31 to 51 years old, he said, noting that 50 percent of them are incumbent members of the House of Representatives (DPR).

According to him, artists like Rieke Diah Pitaloka and Edo Kondologit are part of the popular candidates.
