RMAF C-130 PLANE TO EVACUATE MALAYSIANS IN STRIFE-TORN LIBYA

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24 (Bernama) -- The government has directed a C-130 aircraft of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) on assignment in Europe to fly back 190 Malaysians who have appealed to leave strife-torn Libya, according to the National Security Council.
Council secretary Mohamed Thajudeen Abdul Wahab said Wednesday the plane was now in Slovakia and would proceed to Rome, Italy, and then to Tripoli in Libya.
The aircraft was waiting for permission to land from the Tripoli
international airport authorities, he told Bernama when contacted.
Meanwhile, an RMAF spokesman said another RMAF aircraft was on standby at the Subang RMAF base, awaiting instruction to help with the evacuation of Malaysians in Libya.
Libya is seeing an uprising by the people against its leader, Muammar Gaddafi.
