Malaysia In Libya To Return Via Tunusia And Rome
KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) - Malaysians flown out of Libya to Tunisia Friday morning will be taken to Rome by a Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) aircraft early Saturday.
National Security Council secretary Mohamed Thajudden Abdul Wahab said the C-130 aircraft took off from Rome at 10.30pm after receiving permission to land at Tunis-Carthage International Airport at 9:15 friday night.
"The aircraft is expected to arrive in Tunisia at 1am (Malaysian time Sat) to take 127 people to Rome before brought by Malaysia Airlines," he told Bernama Friday night.
Thajudden said the flight from Rome depended on arrival of the RMAF aircraft in Rome.
"If they arrive before the aircraft took off on Saturday night, they can go home with the MAS flight Saturday. If not, they will have to catch the Sunday flight," he said.
Asked about the Malaysians, Thajudden said they looked healthy, happy and could not wait to get home.
Libya's situation became volatile last week following mass protests
demanding the resignation of Muammar Gaddafi.
