First Batch Of Malaysian Citizens Arrive Home From Libya
SEPANG (Bernama) - The first batch of 98 Malaysian citizens arrived home from strife-torn Libya Monday.
They arrived on Malaysian Airlines flight MH015, which touched down at 6.25am, and were greeted on arrival by Deputy Foreign Minister Richard Riot.
Speaking to reporters, Riot said the Malaysian citizens included six employees of the Malaysian Embassy in Libya, two students at the Libyan Islamic University while the rest were private sector employees in Libya.
He said however, the ministry was still unable to locate and contact three Malaysian employees in Libya.
"We know that they are still in Libya based on information provided by their family members," he said.
He said the second batch of 32 Malaysian citizens had arrived in Rome and was expected to return home on Wednesday.
The evacuation of the Malaysian citizens was undertaken jointly by the Foreign Ministry, the National Security Council, the Armed Forces and Ranhill Berhad.
