Prime Minister Urges Libyan Leader to Take Courageous Decision

Doha, February 28 (QNA) - HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani urged the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, "to take a courageous decision to avoid Libya a lot of bloodshed and money."
HE the Premier and Foreign Minister added that the time is not too late to take such a decision stressing that no one could not win in this revolution, but the Libyan people.
HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim reiterated - in a joint news conference today with his Spanish counterpart Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, Spanish that the victory would be through halting bloodshed and alleviating suffering and resolving the issue without the destruction of Libya.
HE the Premier and Foreign Minister noted that HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani was clear yesterday in a joint press conference with the German President, when he said : " Colonel Gaddafi must opt to reeason and obseve the interests of his country, which require making clear a decision clear. "
Responding to question about any Qatari move towards Libya, as HH the Emir received the Libyan ambassador to Qatar yesterday, HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim said the meeting was at the request of the ambassador.
HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister renewed hope that events in Libya would end as soon as possible to prevent bloodshed.
About the current events in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman, HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani said : "We are monitoring the situation and the matter in Bahrain exists between a large segment of the Bahraini people and " I think that the government has started a dialogue with them. "
He added : "We believe that the best way to solve this issue is dialogue in order to reach a solution that restores normalcy in Bahrain."
As for the Sultanate of Oman, HE the Premier and Foreign Minister said : "HM Sultan Qaboos yesterday immediately took many important measures... Especially when we to know the size of the Omani economy."
He added that the measures taken by Sultan Qaboos reflected his desire to meet most of the demands put forward despite the limited income of the Sultanate of Oman, and this indicates his keenness on stability in all that concerns the Omani citizen.
On a question about whether the State of Qatar is exposed to such kind of popular demands, HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim said Qatar is part of the GCC, has adopted many reforms measures , during the rule of HH the Emir including freedom of media and press, elections of both women and men for the Municipal Council, endorsement of the permanent constitution, the Advisory (Shura) Council elections in the near future.
" HH the Emir will determine this , as I know his seriousness in this regard.", HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim stressed.
He added : "We as a government, we had some delays due to the process of drafting all laws, as this is the first experience for us in Qatar, and Qatar had made remarkable leaps in the past years and we are moving in this approach as the best way to get to a State where popular participation is realized and this what HH the Emir always mentioned in the past years and this is the approach of the State of Qatar. ", HE the Premier and Foreign Minister underlined.
For his part, the Spanish Prime Minister said that the international community would not accept practices committed by the regime of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.
, "We want change in Libya change and reforms towards democracy as desired by the Libyan people, added saying the civil society supports this trend.
He believed that the turmoil in some countries of the Arab world are demanding reforms, stressing in this regard the need for providing economic support to these countries by the international community, especially by the private sector and multinational companies in the world.
He expressed apprecation that countries such as Qatar are ready to provide this kind of support and we are ready to work through the Spanish companies and other countries to encourage investment in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya.
