Vodafone Qatar Service Wins Global Mobile Award
Doha, March 01 (QNA) - Vodafone Qatar Money Transfer (VMT) service combined with the wider Vodafone family's Mobile Money Transfer services has won the 'Mobile Money for the Unbanked Award' at this year s Global Mobile Awards.
The Global Mobile Awards is the most highly sought after awards in the global communications industry, Vodafone Qatar said Tuesday in a media statement.
Vodafone Qatar Acting CEO, John Tombleson said, "Vodafone Qatar are honoured and delighted to have been awarded such a prestigious prize. Thousands of customers in Qatar have been using this innovative service to remit money back home. This award recognises the world of difference we have made for all the people in the country."
Established in 1996, the awards attract entries from across the world and are judged by a panel of independent, highly respected experts. The award ceremony is part of the GSMA Mobile World Congress, held annually in Barcelona.
Vodafone Qatar s Money Transfer service was introduced in November 2010, allowing customers in Qatar to send funds directly from their mobile phones to international destinations. (QNA)
