Dissemination of information on sanitation in flood areas conducted
Ministry of Public Health, disseminated information on sanitation tovillagers in four districts of Vientiane Capital.
The medical work team disseminated such information to four districts,Sisattanark, Hardsaifong, Saythany, and Park Ngum from 15 to 17 August.
The aim of such an exercise was to get villagers aware of those epidemic diseases after flooding, such as diarrhea, pink eyes, leptospirosis andothers.
The medical work team also told villagers to drink clean water, observe foodsafety measures and live in hygienic conditions.
Children should not use the flood water for bathing themselves or swim in the flood areas. This was what the medical work team told adult villagers and added that they should forbid their children from carrying out suchactions.
The villagers were also told by the medical work team to avoid eating raw food and the contaminated flesh of those animals that died because of the flood. If the villagers did not have any safe drinking water, they were toldto boil the flood water before consuming it.
