Qatari Bourse's Weekly Index Drops 8.79%

Doha, March 03 (QNA) - Qatar Exchange index lost 722.02 points (8.79%) during the week February 27 to March 3 to close at 7,489.25 points. The Qatari bourse had closed the previous week at 8,211.27 points.
Four firms of the 43 listed companies ended this week with gains while 37 fell and two maintained status quo.
Masraf Al Rayan led trading value during this week accounting for 16.81% of the total trading value followed by Industries Qatar which accounted for 14.77%. Trading value during this week increased by 25.22% to reach QR 2,298,367,015.06 compared to QR 1,835,458,037.56.
Trading volume increased by 37.84% to reach 62,842,992 shares as against 45,589,906 shares, while the number of transactions rose by 15.87%, to reach 30,205 transactions as compared to 26,068 transactions.
The market capitalisation dropped by 6.95% to close at QR 383,208,755,390.08 as compared to QR 411,850,948,148.84 at the end of previous week.
Banking and financial sector led the trading value during this week accounting for 48.82% of the total trading value. The services sector followed next at 32.77%. The industrial sector ranked third accounting for 17.61%. Insurance sector was fourth with 0.80%.
Banking and financial sector also led the trading volume during this week with 45.95% of the total trading volume. The services sector came next with 44.54%, industrial sector came third (8.94%) and insurance sector fourth with 0.57%. (QNA)
