VCUQatar to Host Tasmeem Doha 2011 on March 21

Doha, March 07 (QNA) - Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar's biennial international design conference Tasmeem 2011 titled 'Synapse: Designer As Link' will aim to forge bridges between various segments of the community and expand the role of designers in the region.
The university will host the sixth edition of Tasmeem from March 21 to 24, faculty members announced here at a press conference today.
VCUQatar aims to forge dynamic links between students, creative problem solvers, local community members and community stakeholders through this year's conference.
VCUQatar Dean Allyson Vanstone highlighted the impacts of previous Tasmeem conferences.
From the first conference held in 2004 until the last one in 2008, Tasmeem Doha has explored the role design plays whether it be in helping establish and maintain the cultural identity of a country, exploring design potential within a growing society or implementing sustainable design policies and practices.
This year VCUQatar has invited a number of globally recognised designers, academics and thinkers to participate as conference speakers and is conducting undergraduate and graduate level workshops in preparation for the conference.
