TNO Opens Branch at Qatar Science & Technology Park

Doha, March 09 (QNA) - The Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP) in Doha welcomes TNO, one of Europe's independent Research and Technology Organization for developing innovative technology and providing technical consultancy.
The opening of TNO's Middle East Branch office at QSTP is a main step in fulfilling the company's ambition ot become an accelerator for technology development and innovation serving industry and society in Qatar and the Middle East.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Netherlands, Minister Maxime Verhagen and TNO's president , Jan Mengelers hosted the ceremony earlier in the morning . During the ceremony , TNO gave a flavor of its innovative ambition by presenting high-tech innovations for the energy and mobility industry.
Furthermore Maersk Research and Technology Center and TNO announced their collaboration to develop new technologies for increased oil recovery (IOR) Several European and Middle Eastern relations of TNO also attended.
Marking the branch opening ceremony , a partnerhsip agreement was signed between the QSTP and the dutch company. The agreement was signed for QSTP by its Executive Chairman dr. Tidu Maini, who is also the adviser to HH Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser for sciences and technoliogy whereas it was signed for the Dutch side by TNO's president , Jan Mengelers .
Commenting on the event, Dr.Tidu Maini said the event , the combination of technology, skills and expertise resulting from the collaboration between TNO and QSTP will introduce a better way in using our country's resources.
In particular, their expertise In developing new technologies for increasing the production and recovery from oil and gas fields, the safe and economical production of sour gas, CO2 emission reduction and utilization and water treatment technologies can help increase the wealth of an energy rich country like Qatar.
TNO is one of the largest independent European companies which develops innovative technology, and we warmly welcome them to join the QSTP family
For his part, Jan Menglers commenting on the event said,'' We recogniese QSTP as the excellent place for TNO to establish and office. QSTP,s slogan, Where research goes to work, is a good match with TNO's mission , to connect people and knowledge for practical applications. To advise companies on using existing advanced technology and developing new technologies for the future , close interaction with our customer's is crucial . An office in the Middle East will help us to expand our long term relations with companies and universities'', he said.
In his address Deputy Prime Minister of Netherlands, Minister Maxime Verhagen highlighted the close relations between his country and Qatar and said the two countries are fundamental partners and are connected by strong ties of cooperation especially in several fields especially gas sector.
He further said that the current visit of Her Majesty queen Beatrix of the Kingdom of the netherlands to Qatar would further contribute to bolstering and promoting bilateral relations and pushing them to wider scopes.
'' We are proud of the opening of the afoesaid branch of the TNO which would support joint projects in technology and energy domains and we hope the netherlands and qatar would become leading countries in LNG globally'', said Deputy Prime Minister of Netherlands, Minister Maxime Verhagen.
Qatar Science and Technology Park is a home for technology based companies from around the world and an incubator of start-up enterprises The opening of the TNO office is an excellent example of how QSTP supports technology development
It is worth to mention that Qatar Science& Technology Park is the national agency charged with executing applied research and delivering commercialized technologies in four themed areas, Energy, Environment, Health Sciences and Information & Communication Technologies.QSTP is located in Qatar Foundations Education City and has access to the resources of its cluster of leading research universities.
