Truth behind U.S. and S. Korean War Exercises Disclosed
Pyongyang, March 10 (KCNA) -- The National Reunification Institute issued a white paper on March 8 bringing to light the truth behind Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint military exercises being staged by the U.S. and south Korea.
The white paper said:
The exercises are aimed to mount a surprise preemptive nuclear attack upon the north in view of their nature and contents, period and scale and arms and equipment involved, etc.
First of all, the exercises are the very dangerous saber-rattling being staged under the simulated conditions of 44 local wars and an all-out war on the Korean Peninsula.
They are very disturbing ones to ignite a war against the north under the pretext of someone's "contingency" according to the "OPLAN 5029".
The joint military exercises that started on Feb. 28 will last till April 30. This means 39 days longer than what was staged last year.
The number of the U.S. and south Korean forces involved in the exercises this year increased to more than 210 000 from tens of thousands in the past.
