Prime Minister Calls for Serious Dialogue in Bahrain

Doha, March 14 (QNA) - HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani underlined that there is an agreement for joint defence and special legal obligations between the GCC states.
HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim said in a statement to Al Jazeera Channel TV, responding to a question about the arrival of more 1000 Saudi and 500 Emirati troops in Bahrain as well as the mission of these troops.
HE the Premier said The contribution of Saudi Arabia and the UAE comes in light of this Agreement exist between the GCC states, which commits all the GCC states at the request of one of its members for help and support."
Whether the State of Qatar would send troops, HE the Premier and Foreign Minister said: "There are always Qatari liaison officers .. As you know that Qatar has forces in Eritrea to maintain security between Eritrea and Djibouti .. And we are of course committed to the GCC Joint Defence Pact, at the present time there are liaison officers .... There are no individuals or full force, but this issue is under consideration, he said .... He added: " What I want to say that the situation in Bahrain is critical and we hope that calm would be maintained in Bahrain".
HE the Prime Minister and Minister of and Foreign Minister described the call by the Crown Prince of Bahrain for the dialogue as " sincere and must be adopted by all sides .. And if we want the dialogue to succeed, We must defuse this tension .. And diffusion this tension comes by the withdrawal of all from the street and through restoring the language of dialogue and love between all the Bahraini people so that there would be a serious dialogue to reach the outcome that satisfies the Bahrainis as the Crown Prince said in his speech. ", HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim added.
Responding to a question about the Bahraini opposition considering sending of these troops as a military intervention and whether the GCC states take into account the position of the Bahraini opposition, HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani said: "The Bahraini opposition is part of the Bahraini people and we consider them as the rest of the Bahraini people .. And as I mentioned earlier .. there are GCC treaties and there is the Peninsula Shield and there are clear GCC security agreements, including clear commitments between the GCC states and so the word "intervention " is inaccurate regarding this issue... And I don't think that forces are there for doing something .. and I think the forces are part of this commitment..... and I think the dialogue cannot be held in such a tense situation .. I advise the brothers protesters to withdraw from their places and this is a sincere call for beginning a serious dialogue by the government, and the protesters in order to reach the desired outcome in Bahrain. ", HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim said.
On the GCC states concern about Bahrain through providing it with $ 20 billion in aid, and on the strategic value represented by the events of Bahrain for the GCC states, HE the Premier and Foreign Minister said: "Aid is $10 billion over 10 years and not $ 20 billion .. and if we wanted to stand with our brothers who are less developed in GCC states, because of oil revenues in their countries in Bahrain and Oman .. There must be to a practical stop, these amounts are allocated for housing and for development ..... Any lack of development in one of the GCC states would affect the other states because GCC is one bloc .. There are economic and trade agreements between the GCC states ... And so I think this was to take place before , but as long as it happened now that means there is a recognition or proof that the GCC is effective in word and deed, HE the Premier and Foreign Minister noted.
