Qatari Armed Forces , AW , Sign A Contract for Purchase of 3 Air Ambulance Helicopters
Doha, March 16 (QNA) - The Qatari Armed Forces signed a contract with Italian AgustaWestland (AW) for the purchase of three AW-139 air ambulance helicopters.
The contract signing ceremony was attended by HE Chief Of Staff Of The Armed Forces Maj.Gen. Hamad Bin Ali Al Attiyah , The Public Health Minister HE Abdullah Bin Khalid Al Qahtani , the Italian ambassador to Qatar HE Andrea Ferrari and a number of senior officers of the armed forces.
The contract was signed for the Qatari side by Head of the Helicopter Aircraft Development Joint Committee Air Commodore Sultan Salmaeen Al Mansouri and for the Italian company by Senior Director Bruno Sparneuleni and the deputy Executive officer of the company.
According to the contract, the armed forces will operate the three AW-139 air ambulance helicopters in cooperation with the public health ministry to provide flying ambulance services .
T he AW-139 is a 15-seat medium sized twin-engined helicopter is provided with the state of the art techonoly and is capable of carrying two critically injured persons and dealing with them in addition to the accompanying medical staff . It can also work daily and night and under all circumstances .The AW139 is powered by two Pratt & Whitney PT6C turboshaft engines. The helicopter is being marketed for use in a number of roles including Law Enforcement/Emergency Medical Service, Executive Transport, Search and Rescue, Maritime and Offshore Oil Operations.
