Supreme Council of Health Celebrates TB Day
Doha, March 20 (QNA) - The State of Qatar, represented by the Supreme Council of Health, will join the world countries in celebrations marking the World Tuberculosis Day which falls on March 24 every year and held this year under the slogan "the move against tuberculosis to eliminate it.
The World Tuberculosis Day is designed to build public awareness about the global epidemic of tuberculosis and efforts to eliminate the disease. Today tuberculosis causes the deaths of about 1.6 million people each year, mostly in the Third World
On this occasion Dr. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani, Director of the Department of Public Health at the Supreme Council of Health said the public health department in collaboration with the tuberculosis program and Hamad Medical Corporation will organize a series of events over the next week in order to raise public awareness of the seriousness of this disease.(QNA)
