Qatar Condemns Israel's Failure to Observe its Obligations in Occupied Palestinian Lands
Geneva, March 21 (QNA)- The State of Qatar has condemned Israel's intransigence and failure to comply with its obligations under the international law on the situation in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967.
This was stated in a speech delivered by the Second Secretary of the Permanent Mission of Qatar to the United Nations in Geneva Mansour Abdullah Al -Sulaitin during the interactive dialogue with Richard Falk, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, and which took place on the sidelines of the sixteenth session of the Council of Human rights here on Monday.
He said that the State of Qatar condemns Israel's constant refusal to cooperate with the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied in the performance of his mandate, as well as with other United Nations mechanisms on human rights.
He affirmed Qatar's welcome of the report of Richard Falk, concerning the human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, describing it as "characterised with responsibility", as it cnfirms the worsening situation in the Palestinian territories owing to israel's constant and systematic violations of human rights.
The Second Secretary of the Permanent Mission of Qatar to the United Nations in Geneva He also expressed Qatar's deep concern at Israel's continued policy of settlement, especially in East Jerusalem, neglecting all related laws and international conventions.
Mansour Abdullah Al -Sulaitin has also showcased Qatar's welcome of the statement made by High Commissioner for Human Rights Ms. Navi Pillay, during her recent visit to the region, which denounces the illegal settlement activities of Israel and underlines the impunity of human rights violations and international humanitarian law of accountability.
The Qatari diplomat further said that Israel's actions highlight the intolerance of liability arising as an occupying power and has satisfied its obligations under the international law of human rights and the international humanitarian law and the Fourth Geneva Convention applicable to the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem.
Mansour Abdullah Al -Sulaitin voiced the support of the State of Qatar for all the recommendations contained in the report of Richard Falk and for the need to take all necessary measures required for implementing these recommendations and called on the UN Security Council to find the proper way to compel Israel to respond to its resolutions and recommendations and to cooperate fully with the various United Nations mechanisms conerned with human rights and commit to ensuring respect for all rights Palestinian people's legitimate.
