Daini: Iraqiya Slate leaders agreed on Obeidi for Minister of Defense
Baghdad (NINA) – Lawmaker from Iraqiya Slate, Nahida Al Daini, said leaders of the slate agreed on nominating Khalid Mit’ib Al Obeidi, officially, for the Minister of Defense post, after Maliki, the Prime Minister, approved him.
“The agreement among the IS leaders was reached since there is no time to change the other candidates and to finish this file for good,” Daini stated to NINA.
MPs from National Alliance said that after Maliki approved Obeidi for the MOD, IS withdrew his nomination.
As for the NA candidate for the MOI, Daini said “the NA has not submitted, officially, its candidate to the blocs. IS will object to any candidate that does not enjoy competent, professionalism, and integrity and we will not vote for him.”
The Erbil agreement gave IS the right to present a candidate for the MOD; the NA has the right to present candidates for the MOI and National Security ministry
