Prez stresses for intl cooperation to deal with disasters

New Delhi (PTI) - Indian President Pratibha Patil
Friday stressed the need for cooperation among countries to
deal with natural calamities.
During a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan (Presedential
House) in the Indian capital here in which envoys of six
countries presented their credentials, the President conveyed
to Japan India's deepest solidarity and its committed support
as that country deals with the damage caused by the tsunami
and earthquake.
The President emphasised the importance of
international cooperation to deal with disasters. She also
highlighted global collaboration on issues such as climate
change, global financial stability, terrorism as well as food
security and energy security, an official statement said.
The envoys who presented their credentials were
Francisco Javier Elorza Cavengt, the Ambassador of Spain,
Jorge Ayres Roza de Oliveira, the Ambassador of Portugal,
Darius Steinbeck Bubala, the High Commissioner of Zambia, Riad
Kamel Abbas, the Ambassador of Syria, Akitaka Saiki, the
Ambassador of Japan and Pisan Manawapat, the Ambassador of
Thailand.
The credential presentation ceremony was attended by
the senior members of the missions, senior officials of the
Indian Ministry of External Affairs and Rashtrapati Bhavan.
