University of Calgary- Qatar Launches Health Simulation Centre
Doha , April 06 (QNA) - The University of Calgary-Qatar (UCQ) launched a new Simulation facility on Tuesday. The Clinical Simulation Centre (CSC) is designed to provide UCQ students with hands-on training in a hospital setting using advanced technologies like wireless and battery operated simulators.
UCQ Dean Carolyn Byrne and Director of the College of Nursing Project at UCQ Latifa al Houty inaugurated the facility.
One of the more important components of the National Health Strategy, launched recently, is education and research, and the Simulation facility will aid in achieving those goals according to.
The center's suites 1 and 2 are home to a simulated family of computer-driven manikins comprised of an adult male named Ali, a female called Mashael, six year- old child Nora and a newborn baby Saad. This family of high-fidelity simulators is designed for a scenario-based training for the care and management to help patients. Through such CSC training, nursing students can have a first-hand experience of anything from heart attacks to family counseling. The diagnosis and treatments are recorded and then reviewed by their peers and instructors in post debriefing sessions.
