Workshop on Human Rights for Journalists Concluded
Doha , April 06 (QNA) - The Doha-based United Nations Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab Region on Wednesday concluded a workshop on human rights in West Asia and in Arab nations.
The two-day workshop aimed at raising the awareness among journalists in their country's local media, as well as other mass communication related professions, about human rights as well as enforcing their knowledge of the international standards of human rights. The workshop also focused on the means of implementation of those methods in the practice of Journalism.
Some 15 local journalists, particularly field reporters, took part in the workshop. A number of seasoned professionals and legal experts representing different organizations such as Al Jazeera and the Human Rights office of the Foreign Ministry were present in the workshop.
The Centre was founded in Qatar in 2009 in accordance with the United Nations General Assembly's resolution of 2005.
