IDB approves carrying out $52 mln projects in Yemen

DAMASCUS, April 06 (Saba) - Islamic Development Bank (IDB) approved on Wednesday development projects worth $52 million
to be carried out in Yemen in 2011.
This came in a meeting gathered Caretaker Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Abdul-Karim al-Arhabi with IDP group President Ahmed Mohammed Ali. The meeting
was held on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the Arab Financial Institutions kicked off today [Wednesday] in Damascus, Syria.
The meeting endorsed the 2011 development project that will be financed by the IDB in Yemen, including water availability enhancement projects and a water network for three
areas in the capital Sana'a at a cost of $21 million.
Two projects were also approved, which are a project of fisheries sector support project in cooperation with International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) worth
$20 million and a project of outfitting Engineering College in Aden University amounting to $ 11 million.
Moreover, the two sides agreed on providing technical assistance for a number of projects.
On the other hand, al-Arhabi has held talks with Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) Abdulatif
Al Hamad on several issues pertaining to enhancing the cooperation relations between Yemen and AFESD.
