SCANIA EXPANDS NETWORK WITH FOUR AFTER SALES CENTRES

By V.SANKARA

SHAH ALAM (Selangor, Malaysia), April 9 (Bernama) -- Scania (Malaysia) Sdn
Bhd, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Swedish truck maker Scania CV AB, will open
four after-sales-centres this year as part of its network expansion plan in
Malaysia.

Marketing Communications Manager, Scania South East Asia, Ho Hee Hean said
one service centre would open in Port Klang next month and another in Ipoh in
Perak state come May.

Besides, the company will also establish two mobile service workshops in
Sandakan, Sabah state, and Kuching, Sarawak state , in May and September,
respectively.

"The mobile workshop in Sandakan will comprise a 20 foot container equipped
with parts and tools to provide breakdown assistance, normal maintenance and
regular servicing for Scania customers.

"The truck is now ready and waiting for licensing and, hopefully, will be
operating by May. We have put a lot of investments in our after-sales-service,"
Ho told Bernama here Saturday.

He said the 24-hour service network was important because most Scania trucks
and buses were used for the long-haul.

The company which aimed to sell 1,000 vehicles within the South East Asian
region in the next few years, garnered 32 per cent of the Malaysian truck market
and between 29 and 33 per cent of the bus sector.

Scania Malaysia, incorporated in 2000, served as the regional hub
for the brand in Southeast Asia and was the sole distributor, importer and
assembler of Scania trucks and bus chassis in Malaysia.

It also provided a full range of after-sales services for both new and used
Scania vehicles.
