Saleh confirms Yemen's adherence to democracy

SANA'A, April 10 (Saba) - President Ali Abdullah Saleh confirmed on Sunday Yemen's adherence to democracy and respect for freedom
of opinion within a peaceful framework.
This came during his meeting with the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General's Advisor Gamal bin Omar, who is currently visiting Yemen.
At the meeting, President Saleh discussed with the UN official the existing cooperation between Yemen and the UN, in addition to the developments in the country in light
of the current crisis.
He reiterated his keenness to address the crisis through dialogue and within the Constitution and away from acts of violence and chaos.
In this regard, Saleh reviewed the developments witnessed by the country and the repercussions of the crisis caused by the joint meeting parties (JMP).
President Saleh pointed to the directives of the National Defense Council to all security services to provide protection to all protestors ,both supporters and opponents.
He noted that he has instructed the concerned authorities to quickly submit all defendants in the unfortunate events that took place on Friday, March 18, in the neighborhood
of Sana'a University and other events to the judiciary to decided on them in light of the investigations carried out by the Public Prosecution.
Moreover, Saleh dealt with the efforts being made currently to emerge from this crisis so as to maintain security, stability and unity of the country.
For his part, the UN's official confirmed the UN's support for resolving the crisis through dialogue between all parties in Yemen and within the constitutional legitimacy.
He pointed out that the UN encourages the Yemeni parties to sit down together to deal with this crisis internally and they are best able to address their country's problem
and remove this tension, which does not serve the interest of the Yemeni people.
