KCNA Commentary Denounces S. Korea for Offering Land for U.S. Military Bases
Pyongyang (KCNA) - The south Korean authorities continue committing such treachery as offering land for U.S. military bases.
The construction of the Phyongthaek military base expected to be completed by 2015 covers 4.44 million phyong (one phyong equals six square feet) or nearly 80 times the area of Tok Islets. It would be the largest of the U.S. military bases overseas.
There will be the U.S. 8th Army Command, barracks, garages, a mobile drill ground, firing range, lodging quarters and even a golf course and other amusement and entertainment facilities.
The U.S. military bases in the areas north of the River Han are being moved to areas south of it at a time when U.S. military bases are being transferred to other areas or new ones are under construction in south Korea.
The Phyongthaek U.S. military base will house U.S. forces present in the Ryongsan base in Seoul, Tongduchon and Uijongbu.
These moves are aimed to carry out the U.S. sinister scenario to save its personnel from the merciless strikes of the Korean People's Army and use the south Korean troops as human shields and cannon fodder in case a war breaks out on the Korean Peninsula.
The land of Korea is left waste and the danger of war is daily increasing owing to the U.S. military bases in different parts of south Korea.
