Maliki asserts to Boehner Iraq's forces capability to bear security responsibilities
Baghdad (NINA) – Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki affirmed that Iraq's armed forces and security agencies are capable to bear the responsibilities of providing security and carry their tasks in a professional way.
During a meeting on Saturday evening, Apr. 16, with Speaker of the US House of Representatives, John Boehner, and US Assistant Secretary of State, Jeffrey Feltman, as well as a number of Congressmen, Prime Minister Maliki said that Iraq's look for future cooperation with the United States, in the field of arming and training.
Maliki stressed, in the meeting that was also attended by US Ambassador to Iraq, James Jeffrey, the importance of consolidating bilateral cooperation in all fields, especially in trade and culture, as well as military.
Maliki affirmed that having friendship relations between Iraq and the United States will benefit the people of both countries, pointing out the importance of the support provided by the US to Iraq in all fields.
For his part, Speaker Boehner expressed his country's keenness to continue its support to Iraq's political process and having their mutual cooperation and friendship reach a fruitful stage in the benefit of both countries.
In the meeting discussion touched also on the relations between Iraq and the United States and the future of their strategic cooperation.
