Experts Meeting on Divorce in Qatar Opens
Doha, April 17 (QNA) - A meeting of experts, organized by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs as part of celebrations marking the Family Day in Qatar which falls on April 15 every year, opened here today to discuss the phenomenon of divorce in the State of Qatar
The experts will discuss over two days the proposed policies to address the phenomenon of divorce in Qatar with the participation of an elite group of local, regional and international experts and specialists in this field, to present some good practices on regional and international levels in addressing the phenomenon of divorce and its effects.
A number of working papers on the phenomenon of divorce from a global perspective, divorce rates, characteristics and determinants in Qatar, procedures and policies adopted at the national level to deal with divorce, experiences and best practices at the regional and international levels to reduce this phenomenon. In addition recommendations and solutions from a of religious, legislative, social and cultural perspective will also be discussed.
Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs Nour Al-Maliki Al-Juhani underlined the care the State of Qatar gives to the family in its capacity as the nucleus of society, pointing out that the Constitution confirmed it as one of the basic components of the society and vowed to protect it, consolidate and strengthen its ties and protect maternity, childhood and aged people.
In an inaugural address Nour Al-Maliki said the wise leadership in Qatar has focused on the establishment of a higher institutional mechanism to serve as reference in all matters relating to the family which is the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, explaining that such care was reflected the focus of Qatar National Vision 2030 on the state's determination to maintain the family in a coherent and stable position, the adoption of the family comprehensive strategy and the familial cohesion and the women empowerment strategy which is one of the fourteen sectorial strategies contained in the national development strategy launched by HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on March 28.(QNA)
