Middle East Maps Conference & Exhibition 2011 Kicks Off

Doha, April 17 (QNA) - The seven Middle East Maps Conference and Exhibition 2011 opened here here today under slogan "Capabilities Building in the field of infrastructure for geographic information systems (GIS) for the region, "with the participation of local and international experts and specialists.
The opening session of the conference was attended by HE Minister of Municipality and Urban Planning Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani.
The conference features special sessions on several themes related maps techniques in areas of engineering, construction, infrastructure and services, management of environmental resources and Urban Planning, the infrastructure of geographic information systems, oil and gas, Remote sensing and related topics. Eng. Ali Abdullah Al Abdullah, Assistant Undersecretary for Planning, the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning underlined the importance of holding this conference, which comes at a time when the State of Qatar is witnessing fast development in several areas .. considering an opportunity to highlight the organic interdependence between geographic information systems (GIS) and the various vital sectors in the State.(QNA)
