Supreme Council of Health Announces New Upgrades
Doha, April 19 (QNA) - The Supreme Council of Health has said it introduced a number of improvements and upgrades to its Departments of Pharmacy and Drug Control, and Medical Commission.
Director of Pharmacy and Drug Control Dr Aisha Ibrahim Al Ansari said in a press conference held this morning that the new developments in the Department include the registration of a number of new drug importers along with assigning an identification code to each importer to facilitate control over the drugs.
She added that the Department will be conducting inspection campaigns from time to time as well as taking samples of the drugs when being entered in the country.
The Director said that the number of pharmacies will double during the coming period, adding that importers will be asked to provide their own drug stores.
For his part, Director of the Medical Commission Dr Ibrahim Al Shaar spoke of the latest improvements introduced by his department and pointed out that medical commission receives up to 2000 visitors daily, a matter which led the department led to involve the private sector in providing medical services.
He added that the provision of the medical commission services by some private hospitals will be under experiment for a period ranging from 6 months to one year.
He explained that this service will be provided by three hospitals, namely Al Ahli Hospital, Al Emadi Hospital, and Doha Clinic, adding that this service will be available for senior staff only. (QNA)
