EX-BALI BOMBING VICTIMS HELPER REGRETS GOVT'S ATTITUDE ON AMROZI ET AL'S EXECUTION

Denpasar, Bali, Sept 1 (ANTARA) - A former volunteer in the aftermath of the 2002 Bali bombing tragedy, Haji Agus Bambang Priyanto, said he was disappointed by and regretted the government's attitude on the execution of the bombings' perpetrators, Amrozi et al.
"I am disappointed because the Attorney General's Office (AGO) had stated the execution of the 2002 Bali bombers would be carried out before the Ramadhan fasting month but it has not happened," Priyanto said in Tuban, Badung district, on Monday.
He said if the government had decided to postpone the execution it should issue an official statement and not gloss over the matter in silence.
"The families of the victms and the Balinese community are disappointed by the postponement," Prijanto said, adding he would attend a UN-sponsored Symposium on Supporting Victims of Terrorism in New York September 8-9.
Prijanto said he hoped the death sentence of the perpetrators of the Bali bombings which killed 202 people and wounded 325 others seriously and lightly would be carried out soon after the end of the Ramadhan fasting month.
"The government must be firm in enforcing the law. If it wavers, the world will assess law enforcement in Indonesia as weak," he said.
He said at the symposium in New York, he would speak on the conditions of victims of terrorism in Indonesia and efforts to help them.
