HH the Emir Visits Municipality of Madrid
Madrid, April 26 (QNA) - HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani paid today a visit to the Municipality of Madrid, where he met with mayor of the city Alberto Ruiz-Gallardon and several members of the municipal council.
The Mayor of Madrid delivered a speech in which he welcomed the visit of HH the Emir to the Kingdom of Spain, stressing that the State of Qatar is one of the Arab countries with strong presence in the daily life of Spaniards.
The Mayor of Madrid said his country was aware that the State of Qatar is distinguished in the region by its openness and moderate policy, and is continuously working to bring peace and development, thanks to its economic prosperity and social stability.
At the conclusion of his speech, the mayor presented to HH the Emir the golden key of the city of Madrid.
HH the Emir expressed his pleasure to visit Madrid, the old city, where different civilizations, cultures and religions live in peaceful co-existence.
His highness said the Arab world appreciated Madrid efforts as it had played a host for Middle East peace conference in 1991, which is one of the terms of reference for the peace process that unfortunately still deadlocked despite the lapse of 20 years since the convening of that conference.
HH the Emir was accompanied during the visit by HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani, HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of the Emiri Diwan Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, and a number of Their Excellencies the members of the official delegation accompanying HH the Emir.
