Global Conference in Doha in 2013 on The Rights of Children

Doha, May 03 (QNA) - The Director-General of the Public Authority for Minors Affairs
Mansour bin Mahdi Al-Yami conferred on Tuesday with a delegation from Terre des Hommes of Switzerland on the rights of the child and on preparations for convening a world conference in Doha on the rights of children in the year 2013.
The two sides discussed the main objectives for the conference and its themes, and the results expected of it, which would support the rights of children in the world and ways of improving their living conditions, particularly in disadvantaged areas, and guiding government policies to serve these objectives.
Al-Yami briefed the delegation on the role of the authority in caring for minors socially and providing them with health and education needs, besides managing and investing their money.
Al-Yami's said the authority was prepared to actively participate in the conference side by side with other departments concerned with the rights of the child in the State.
The delegation of Terre des Hommes which includes Ignacio Packer, director of the programme department and Bernard Butin , from the child rights department, will visit a number of private and public organizations to prepare for the conference in 2013.
Terre des Hommes was founded in 1960 in Lausanne, Switzerland, order to provide direct support to disadvantaged children and improve the daily lives of most vulnerable groups of children around the world . The organization is holding conferences, seminars and workshops to highlight the rights of this important group in the community. (QNA)
