Doha, May 07 (QNA) - Arab League's envoy to Sudan Ambassador Dr. Salah Halima has lauded the great efforts exerted by the Qatari leadership, under the auspices of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to resolve the Darfur issue, as well as its support to all Arab and Islamic issues.
The political efforts in Doha will contribute to reaching the final solution for Darfur crisis, Dr. Salah said in an interview with the Qatari daily (Arrayah).
He added that Qatar's quest to establish a bank for the development of Darfur with a capital of one billion dollars represents an important step in the way of the reconstruction of Darfur.
Doha is currently witnessing intense political actions with several mediators and envoys to push forward the peace process and reach the desired peace, Dr. Salah noted, adding that he will visit Doha during the coming days to take part in those international political actions.
He expected that the international envoys on Sudan will meet on the sidelines of the plenary conference for those who are concerned with Darfur issue, due to be held in Doha on May 18-23 to reach a final and comprehensive settlement to Darfur issue.
The mediation, under the leadership of HE Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmad bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud, is seeking serious communications and negotiations between all parties in order to reach a positive result, he noted.
