Qatar Statistics to Develop Human Development Indicators
Doha, May 07 (QNA) - Qatar Statistics Authority (QSA) said it is working to develop human development indicators being used in the State of Qatar to match those developed by the UN Human Development Report Office last year.
The QSA said it will add three new indicators to measure human development index including Inequality-Adjusted Human Development Index and Gender Inequality Index and Multi-Dimensional Poverty Index.
For this purpose, the QSA said it will organise on Monday a workshop on methodology and measurement of human development in the GCC countries, in collaboration with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The workshop will be attended by HE QSA President Sheikh Hamad bin Jabor bin Jassim Al Thani, as well as a representative from the UN Human Development Report Office, and participants from the GCC statistical agencies and human development reports teams, as well as representatives from the Office of the UNDP in New York and Regional Office Abu Dhabi.
The three-day workshop seeks to create an understanding of the new standards for the preparation of human development reports and to equip teams preparing the reports as well as the political analysts with knowledge on how to use human development indicators to promote and support development policies in the Gulf region.
