Finance Minister: 8 per cent economic growth

(KPL) Minister of Finance Somdy Douangdy has urged relevant authorities within the ministry and the Ministry of Planning and Investment to attain the economic growth of 8 per cent for the 2008-2009 fiscal year.
According to the national socio-economic development plan, approved by the National Assembly last month, the national revenue for the upcoming 2008-2009 fiscal year is set at 8 trillion kip, including 15 per cent from foreign donors.
The GDP of the next fiscal year is set to increase by 26.39 per cent compared to this fiscal year and the per capita income is 8.35 million kip.
The government plans to increase the output of the agriculture-forestry production by 3.4 per cent and industrial production by 15.8 per cent. It is also planning to retain 16.49 per cent of the GDP to the state’s treasury. For the past eight months the state has collected 5 trillion kip and restrained the inflation at 7.1 per cent on average. It is estimated that the GDP growth of this fiscal year will be 7.9 per cent.
