GCC Summit Opens Today amidst Extraordinary Developments
Doha, May 10 (QNA) - The 13th Consultative Summit of the GCC Leaders is scheduled to open in Riyadh today amidst extraordinary regional developments.
The summit is expected to focus on the current Arab developments, mainly in Libya, Syria, Egypt, Tunisia and Yemen - in light of the GCC initiative, as well as the Palestinian reconciliation between Fatah and Hamas.
The summit will also enable GCC leaders to review their common policies and programs covering a wide spectrum of political, economic, security, social and cultural fields, HE GCC Secretary General Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid al-Zayani said in statements.
The GCC leaders is scheduled to give the green light to a $20-billion GCC development fund to aid Bahrain and Oman. The fund, announced in March, is to provide $10 billion over 10 years to each country to upgrade housing and infrastructure. (QNA)
