Al Nuaimi, Al Hajari Hail Qatar Municipal Elections


Doha, May 10 (QNA) - Chairman of Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue Dr. Ibrahim Saleh Al Nuaimi and Vice Chairman of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development Dr. Saif Ali Al Hajari, who is also Board Chairman of the Environment Friends Centre, praised the experience of the municipal elections in Qatar, which has proved successful since its inception in 1999.
Dr. Al Nuaimi highlighted HH the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani's keenness to consolidate the democratic process in Qatar and broaden the popular participation in decision-making, as well as to create areas of freedom to express opinion, which put Qatar on a high and prestigious position in the regional and international forums.
In statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Nuaimi, who voted in the constituency of North Madinat Khalifa, stressed the importance of the Central Municipal Council elections and believed that this experience is a rehearsal for other future elections, especially for young people.
For his part, Dr. Saif Ali Al Hajari, after voting in the second constituency in Al Dafna, hailed the great attention given to the Central Municipal Council elections, which shows awareness of the democratic action, and congratulated the wise government on the continued practice of democracy.
He said that the Qatari citizen became a partner and an active contributor in Qatar's renaissance, adding that this election is a responsibility of the candidate and the voter as well.
