Water Scarcity in the Middle East Might Trigger Wars And Political Crises
Doha, May 10 (QNA) - Water scarcity in the Middle East might trigger wars and political crises.
A report issued on Tuesday on the fringes of the ongoing Doha Forum and Enriching the Middle East's Economic Future shed light on regional conflicts and international challenges , inter alia
climate change.
The report , under the theme "The Blue Peace: Reconsideration of Water Security in the Middle East", was written over 18 months by more than 100 experts, ministers , government officials in Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan , Palestine and Israel.
Cooperation in the water sector could set up the foundations for a peace era in the Middle East through joint regional efforts to formulate collective strategies, the report said.
The report called for a regional regime for water security through moulding water strategies according to acknowledged water management and quota laws.
