FLOODS INUNDATE THREE VILLAGES IN KOTABARU, S KALIMANTAN
Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, Sept. 6 (ANTARA) - Floods triggered by incessant rains over the past couple of weeks have inundated three villages in Kelumpang Hulu sub district, Kotabaru district, South Kalimantan province.
Floodwaters reaching a height of up to 50 centimeters have submerged the floors of hundreds of houses, tens of hectares of fish pounds, and two hectares of farming area at Karang Payau, Banua Lawas, and Sungai Kupang villages in Kotabaru district over the past three days.
A traditional market and a local military office were also inundated in the flooding.
However, despite the floods, local residents decided not to leave their houses.
