City of Rome Using QSTP Technology

Doha, May 16 (QNA) - Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP) announced a landmark agreement with Rome City Council on Monday, May 16, 2011. QSTP s Executive Chairman Dr. Tidu Maini, and Rome s Minister for Technology & IT Networks, Dott. Enrico Cavallari, signed the agreement to use the RASAD Platform to perform an epidemiological study in the City of Rome.
The study will monitor Diabetes, Alzheimer patients, heart disease patients in addition to the lifestyle habits of children.
RASAD is the ICT platform developed by QSTP, and it is powered to enable remote monitoring. QSTP designed and implemented the technological architecture of the platform.
RASAD was proven to be a valuable concept over the second half of 2009 and has demonstrated itself to be an accurate method of wireless information transfer across different interfaces of the platform. RASAD was created so that a variety of different sensors can collect data and transmit it via wireless or wired networks to cloud-based servers that process the data providing real time customized graphical interfaces and services.
RASAD is a costumer-focused solution that brings strong benefits in three main areas, which have been designed as pillars to ensure the complete satisfaction of customers, flexibility of the platform, reliability and comprehensiveness of the data, ease of use and access.
RASAD has been internationally recognized as a valuable tool to monitor patients suffering from different diseases. This collaboration between QSTP and the Rome City Council will cover two main domains:
(1) monitoring children s lifestyles in Rome as a tool to prevent chronic metabolic diseases (such as obesity, hypertension, diabetes, etc), and (2) remote monitoring of heart, diabetes and Alzheimer patients. RASAD helps keep accurate and up-to-date records of physical activity of children and patients, which is vital to prevent and reduce treatment burdens of several diseases.
In addition to tracking lifestyle, RASAD is also able to directly monitor the behavior of the heart by providing remote singles-lead, 3-, 6- or 12-lead ECG in real time. Heart patients will not be forced to spend a long recovery period in hospitals and can be followed remotely by their cardiologists, providing an enjoyable safe environment with their family at home.
