QNA Holds Training Course for Journalists on Sunday -for Local Press
Doha , May 17 (QNA) - Qatar News Agency (QNA) will offer a specialized training course next Sunday May 22 on writing and editing economic news pieces.
The training course, which lasts for three days, is part of a series of courses held by QNA's Media Relations Adinistration to rehabilitate and train workers in the Media field in the State of Qatar.
Director of Public Relations Department at QNA Ahmed Mohamed Al Buainain said that Joe Lauria, a journalist in the US Wall Street Journal will give lectures during the course since Lauria is also lecturing in a number of American Universities. His 38-year career saw him work for a number of esteemed media institutions such as the Sunday Times, Deutsche Presse Agentur in addition to Wall Street Journal.
Al Buainain added that the course will be held in the conference room in the third floor of QNA's building, with 30 trainees also attending. These trainees are representing the state's numerous institutions , foreign companies , some banks operating in the state along with a number of QNA employees.
He said that QNA is duly keen to offer such courses to raise the ability and efficiency of journalists and employees in the public relations department and provide them with the tools for success in their careers.
QNA is prepared well to the coming course, particularly by hosting Lauria for the course, Al Buainain said.
The Director of Public Relations Department at QNA praised the efforts and guidance of General Manager of Qatar News Agency HE Sheikh Jaber bin Yousef bin Jassim Al Thani, adding that the General Manager is always keen to hold training courses and programs continuously to benefit youth citizens working in media .
The training course will open from 9 AM- to 01 PM and will cover a number of issues including the coverage of economic news by Western media, how does a journalist work in a Western country to obtain the required information. It will also provide a general explanation of the energy market and everything regarding reporting on that market in particular. Examples of that are news of big corporations, stock market, Central banks among others. (QNA)
