Daewoo International wins 40 bln won order from Pakistan
SEOUL (Yonhap) - Daewoo International Corp., a South Korean trading firm, said Wednesday that it has won a 40 billion won (US$ 36.8 million) deal to build electricity substations in Pakistan.
Under the deal with the Pakistani government, Daewoo International will build seven substations in a northeastern region of the Southwestern Asian country, the company said.
The project will be financed with Seoul's economic development cooperation fund (EDCF), the company said. The EDCF is a state-run fund aimed at helping poor and less-developed countries through loans that carry low interest rates.
Daewoo International, taken over last year by South Korea's leading steelmaker POSCO, is also involved in overseas energy development.
Shares of Daewoo International were trading at 38,400 won on the Seoul bourse as of 1:30 p.m., up 1.86 percent.
