Workshop on Combating Terrorism Opened in Doha
Doha (QNA) - HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Minister of State for Internal Affairs, chairman of the National Committee for Combating Terrorism, said on Tuesday that the State of Qatar was among the first countries that felt the threat of terrorism and had sought to strengthen cooperation with various organizations and agencies working in the field of combating terrorism.
Opening the regional workshop on the activation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions on combating terrorism and the mechanisms for its implementation, the minister said that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations is one of the most serious challenges and threats facing international peace and security.
He stressed that Doha hosting of the workshop comes to complement the efforts being made within the international community to combat the phenomenon of terrorism.
He noted that that Qatar is keen on implementing all relevant UN Security Council resolutions on terrorism , pointing out that the workshop is a good opportunity for participants to share experience and to develop appropriate recommendations on all matters relating to mechanisms for implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions.
