By Jamal Yali
KUWAIT (KUNA) - Chairman of the Central Executive Apparatus for Addressing the Status of Illegal Residents Saleh Al-Fadhala on Tuesday reaffirmed support of the political leadership to the body.
In a statement to KUNA after a meeting with Vice Chair of the Kuwaiti Human Rights Society Maha Al-Barjas, Al-Fadhala said "we are backed by the political leadership and in constant contact with it in order to alleviate matters for this category." The meeting was also attended by General Trustee of the society Amer Al-Temimi and the apparatus's Secretary General Sheikh Khaled Al-Mubarak Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
On outcomes of the meeting, Al-Fadhala pointed out it was not the first time both entities had met, saying that a roadmap is in the maki ng so as to find a solution for illegal residents.
As for human rights, Al-Fadhala said "when it comes to illegal residents, we are not talking about granting citizenship, but about their civil rights." "Any delay of granting these rights is attributed to existing bureaucracy. That is why the apparatus, in the next few days, will send its employees to some government entities like the ministries of health and justice in a bid to speed up paper work for illegal residents," he noted.
