Al Jazeera Journalist Released
Doha (QNA) - Al Jazeera journalist Dorothy Parvaz has been released nearly three weeks after she went missing in the Syrian capital of Damascus, where she was to cover the protests.
On Wednesday morning, the Al Jazeera network confirmed in a statement that she had been released, and was safe and in good health.
Parvaz left Doha for Syria on April 29, but lost contact with her family or employer heard from the 39-year-old after she disembarked from a Qatar Airways flight in Damascus.
There was a massive online mobilisation calling for the journalist's release.
Dorothy is an experienced journalist who joined Al Jazeera in 2010. She graduated from the University of British Columbia, completed a master's degree in Arizona, and held journalism fellowships at both Harvard and Cambridge. She previously worked as a columnist and feature writer for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
