Karbala (NINA) – Swedish ambassador in Iraq, Karl Magnus, announced his country's businessmen’s readiness to implement any project, whether in Karbala or other province, and cooperate with the local government in the economic, scientific, industrial and agricultural domains.
He said in a news conference in Karbala "we came to Karbala today to get acquainted with the investment opportunities and contribute in the industrial, agricultural and scientific aspects."
He continued "we felt that we are not strangers in Karbala because we have an Iraqi community in Sweden of up to 62.000 Iraqis."
For his part, Karbala governor, Amal Al Deen Al Hir, said "the local government continues to conclude agreements with international companies to set up projects in the interest of the province."
He added "there are many investment opportunities in the province because of its religious importance; it is visited by millions of visitors every year."
The Swedish Ambassador, with a delegation of Swedish businessmen, met this morning with chairman of the Karbala provincial council and governor and a number of Iraqi businessmen. /End/
