S. Korea's PM to attend OECD meeting in Paris
SEOUL (Yonhap) - South Korea's Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik will leave for Paris next week to attend a meeting of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), his office said Thursday.
During the four-day trip set to begin on Tuesday, Kim will lead the South Korean delegation during the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting slated to take place at the organization's Paris headquarters on May 25-26, the office said. The 34-nation OECD celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
Kim will deliver keynote remarks in support of the organization's adoption of a green growth strategy report at South Korea's proposals and his government's green growth policies, the office said.
As an event to celebrate the launch of the OECD's green growth strategy, Kim is scheduled to present the report together with OECD Secretary General Angel Gurr to the chairman of the meeting's green growth session.
U.S. State Secretary Hillary Clinton, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan will also be in attendance, according to the news reports.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Kim will hold separate bilateral talks with prime ministers of Hungary, Slovakia and Norway to discuss ways to increase substantive economic cooperation and ties with the countries, the office said.
Kim is scheduled to return home on May 27.
