Mock Evacuation of A Building Tower - For Local Press"


Doha, May 19(QNA)- The General Directorate of Civil Defence on Thursday afternoon carried out a mock evacuation operation of the 17-storey Mirqab tower building in Dafna area,The tower also includes a number of companies.
The operation was performed in cooperation and coordination with the said buidling's security and safety concerned officials.
The evacuation scenario began with a notification that a fire outbroke in the tower and immediately the fire brigade and rescue unit of the Wadi Al-Sail Civil Defense Center moved to the fire scene .The fire brigade and rescue unit included a car rescue with a sliding scale, of up 32 meters and another for rapid intervention . Upon arrival at the fire scene , it has been notified that heavy thick smoke was emanating on the seventh floor of the building . The building's security and safety officials then evacuated the staff and customers and their access to the safe assembly points.
The Civil Defence unit dealt with the mock fire and during the searching for the missing , it found four injured people living in one of the floors and have been rescued on part of the Civil Defense unit, while police patrols (Fazaa) organized the traffic movement in the surrounding streets.
The traffic patrols in addition to ambulances and first aid treatment took part in the evacuation operation which performed under the supervision of First Lieutenant Khamis Salem Al Suwaidi , the officer in charge of evacuation affairs at the General Administration of Civil Defense.
The aim of said operation is to raise the safety awareness and prevention and providing training to employees working with the said institutions and companies on how to cope with the dangers and proper disposition in the event of a fire. (QNA)
