Iraqi Kurdistan seeks closer cultural ties with Iran
TEHRAN, May 21 (MNA) – Barham Saleh, the prime minister of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan region in Iraq, has called for expansion of cultural ties between the Iraqi Kurdistan and Iran.
“We are keen to increase bilateral ties and we hope that the ground would be prepared for the expansion of relations, especially in the cultural areas,” Saleh said in the Iraqi city of Arbil in a meeting with an Iranian trade delegation headed by Hassan Kazemi Qomi, the chairman of Iran-Iraq Economic Development Committee.
“Fortunately, Iranian and Iraqi officials are currently determined to enhance bilateral ties and have exchanged numerous visits to pave the way for the realization of this goal,” Saleh stated.
He added that there is no obstacle in the way of Iranian companies and businessmen that are willing to invest in Iraqi Kurdistan, adding Iraq is ready to provide investors with the required facilities.
Kazemi Qomi also said that the Islamic Republic of Iran attaches high importance to its relationship with Iraq, adding, “Increasing cooperation with the Iraqi Kurdistan is one of our priorities.”
