Iranian animation wins top prize at Portuguese festival

TEHRAN, May 21 (MNA) -- The Iranian animation “Halftone” by Hamideh Javadi was picked as the best animation video at the Portugal’s Black & White Audiovisual Festival.

The animation, with a running-time of six minute and 25 seconds, recounts the story of a violinist who tries to quiet all sounds around him in order to hear the sound of his own musical instrument.

The eighth Black & White Audiovisual Festival was held at the Catholic University – Porto from May 11 to 14.

Only video, audio and photography in black and white competed at the festival. Thirty videos, eight photographic sequences and eight audio works from thirty countries, including Germany, Georgia, Iran, Italy, Norway, United Kingdom, Portugal and Spain were entered.

The animation previously went on screen at the Istanbul International Short Film Festival, Tehran International Short Film Festival and La.Meko Filmfestival in Landau, Germany.
